Delhi Grabs Three of Four Major ACAA Awards, Four Land on All-Conference Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (February 26, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team took three of the four major ACAA awards as the league unveiled today its all-conference teams. Head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz was named the ACAA Coach of the Year, while Samiaya Salley (Highland Falls, NY / James I. O'Neill) was chosen Player of the Year and Camryn McDonald (Springfield Gardens, NY / Grover Cleveland) earned Rookie of the Year.

Salley also received first-team honors, with McDonald too being named an honorable mention. Katie Herba (Perth, NY / Broadalbin-Perth) and Kiera Holland (Elmont, NY / Elmont Memorial) were accorded to the All-ACAA Second Team.

Coach Andruszkiewicz and her squad posted their best record in her three-year run as head coach at 17-13. Delhi wrapped things up over the weekend at the NIAC Tournament, where they routed Maine Fort Kent Friday in the semifinals, 86-68, to face top-seeded Villa Maria in Saturday's league championship. The Vikings won the contest, 58-43. It marked the Broncos' first season over .500 since the school transitioned to four-year athletics in 2015-16. Armed with a young squad of one junior, five sophomores and three freshmen, Delhi began the year with four straight wins, including defeating Villa Maria, 89-85, in their first season meeting, and were consistently ranked in the top 15 in all eight USCAA Division II Coaches' Polls.

Salley, who finished ranked second in all USCAA with 23.8 ppg., became SUNY Delhi's all-time career leading scorer with 1,137 points. She passed the previous mark of 1,033 set by Jennifer LePinnet-Clark (2002-04). The sophomore guard was also just the second Bronco to reach 1,000 points, and the second to reach it in just two years. Salley was twice named an ACAA Player of the Week, and earned First-Team All-NIAC. Some of Salley's highlights this year included dropping a career-best 42 points on Central Penn in the team's regular season finale on Feb. 17, and scoring the game-winning basket on a running jumper with 0.3 to play to beat SUNY Canton, 69-67, on Jan. 23.

McDonald totaled 21 double-doubles, including one triple-double, to cap her freshman season. She averaged 13.7 ppg. and 13.0 rpg., ranking fifth in USCAA Division II in rebounds and third on the team in scoring. The Springfield Gardens, NY native earned both USCAA and ACAA Player of the Week honors, and was named the NIAC's Co-Freshman of the Year and a second-team honoree. McDonald's first-year highlights included her triple-double performance in Delhi's 96-67 victory over Penn State Hazleton, recording 23 points, 25 rebounds and 11 assists.

Herba stood as the Broncos' leader in steals with 2.5 per game, as well as ranking second with 8.9 rpg. and 4.0 assists per game. The former transfer from Fulton-Montgomery C.C. was Delhi's fourth-leading scorer with 9.8 ppg., and collected a season-high 20 points at Central Penn on Jan. 7, where she also had one of her eight double-doubles with ten rebounds. The Broadalbin-Perth graduate also plays for Coach Lauren Mackay on the women's soccer team, where she was named both a USCAA National All-Academic and All-American Honorable Mention in November.

Holland finished her freshman year as the squad's second-leading scorer with 15.1 ppg. She tallied eight 20-point games, including a 30-point performance at Central Penn on Jan. 7, helping the Broncos to wins in seven of those contests. The Elmont, NY native was third on the team in field goal percentage at 43.8 percent (186-for-425).
