BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 23, 2018) – SUNY Delhi women's basketball ticketed their destination Friday to the NIAC Championship, pulling out all the stops in an 86-68 rout of Maine Fort Kent in the league semifinals. The Broncos, now 17-12, will play for the conference title on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. between either College of St. Joseph or Villa Maria. Their semifinals contest takes place on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The tournament is hosted by Villa Maria.

Despite playing with just seven available players, four Broncos finished with double digits in scoring. Kiera Holland led all scorers with 27 points, while Samiaya Salley netted 22 points with eight rebounds. Camryn McDonald earned her 20th double-double of her freshman season with 19 points and 13 rebounds, making a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line, including 3-for-3 on and-one attempts. Katie Herba also had a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 13 boards.

While SUNY Delhi started off modestly, leading 22-15 after one quarter, they heated up as the first half went on. Salley made 5-of-7 threes on her way to 19 first-half points, while Holland netted 3-of-6 triples for 17 points to help steer the Broncos to a 52-27 halftime lead. The Broncos stretched their lead as much as 33 points in the third quarter before MFK rallied to trim the score to as little as 12 points at 69-57 with 8:23 left in the game. Delhi responded with a 12-5 run that lasted nearly six minutes to maintain control at 81-62 with 2:47 to go. Though held scoreless for most of the second half, Salley broke her silence by capping off the win with a 3-pointer with 2:04 to play to capture her 22nd 20-point game of the year.

The Broncos made 50.0 percent from the floor (36-for-72), while the Bengals made just 37.1 percent (26-for-70). This included a first-half margin of Delhi shooting 52.5 percent (21-for-40) to MFK's 25.7 percent (9-for-35). Holland and Salley accounted for all of Delhi's threes, all in coming in the first half, as Delhi fared 9-of-17 from long range, compared to MFK's 8-of-30 showing from behind the arc. McDonald also made all of the Broncos' free throws as Delhi totaled 5-of-6 from the line, while the Bengals made 8-of-10. The Broncos also outrebounded Maine Fort Kent, 46-33, and held a 50-30 lead in points in the paint.
