NIAC Names Salley to First Team, McDonald Co-Freshman of the Year and Second Team

DELHI, N.Y. (February 22, 2018) – The Northeastern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (NIAC) recently released its women's basketball all-conference teams. Guard/forward Camryn McDonald (Springfield Gardens, NY / Grover Cleveland) was named the league's Co-Freshman of the Year, as well as earning second-team accolades, while sophomore guard Samiaya Salley (Highland Falls, NY / James I. O'Neill) received a nod on the All-NIAC First Team. Both played a major part in SUNY Delhi closing the regular season at 16-12, the best finish under third-year head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz.

McDonald shared her freshman award with Fisher's Choon-Hee Chae. She completed her first regular season as a Bronco with 19 double-doubles, including one triple-double in a 23-point, 25-rebound, 11-assist performance versus Penn State Hazleton on December 8. The Springfield Gardens, NY native averages a double-double with 13.4 ppg., third-most on the team, and a team-best 12.8 rpg., good for fifth in USCAA Division II. She also had six 20-point games, including a career-best 25 points at College of St. Joseph on January 10, and logged two games with at least 20 rebounds. McDonald's stellar rookie season earned her Player of the Week nods along the way from the USCAA, ACAA and NIAC.

Salley recently became SUNY Delhi's all-time leading career scorer with 1,095 points, while becoming just the second Bronco ever to reach 1,000 points, and the second to reach it in just two years. The Highland Falls, NY native amassed the milestone by averaging 24.3 ppg., which ranks second in all USCAA, and tallying 21 20-point games. This included six 30-point games and one 40-point game. Salley reached the 1,000-point mark at Villa Maria on February 11, and then became the school's all-time leading scorer four days later at Cazenovia, where she scored 38 points. The sophomore was recognized for her achievement prior to the Broncos' regular season finale versus Central Penn on Saturday, where she wowed the home crowd scoring a career-high 42 points with her family and previous SUNY Delhi leading scorer Jennifer LePinnet-Clark in attendance (LePinnet-Clark scored 1,033 points from 2002-04). Salley earned one ACAA Player of the Week honor this season.

McDonald, Salley and the rest of the Broncos look to parlay their all-conference success at the NIAC Tournament this Friday, hosted by Villa Maria. Delhi will take on Maine Fort Kent in the semifinals at 2:00 p.m.
