DELHI, N.Y. (January 13, 2018) – Saturday's women's basketball game between SUNY Delhi and NHTI was a showdown between two top-ten USCAA Division II squads. While Samiaya Salley logged her second straight 28-point game and Camryn McDonald recording her 12th double-double of the season, the Broncos were hampered by turnovers and a pair of Lynx posting 20-point days as NHTI claimed a 78-68 win. Delhi, who was ranked sixth in the latest USCAA Coaches' Poll, moved to 11-6 on the year, while NHTI, ranked tenth, improved to 10-5.

Salley connected on 10-of-24 shots from the floor, including a 6-of-13 showing from 3-point range. McDonald finished with 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Kiera Holland netted 13 points and Diana Echols narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

NHTI countered with Risselly Deoleo earning a double-double of her own with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Melissa Martel tallying 22 points and seven boards, making 5-of-10 from behind the arc.

While the Broncos held leads in points in the paint (30-28), points off turnovers (17-10) and fastbreak points (12-10), Delhi did, however, commit 25 turnovers to NHTI's 18, and were outscored, 27-9 off the bench. Both sides posted very similar shooting numbers percentage-wise, with the Broncos shooting 36.8 percent (25-for-68) total to the Lynx's 37.1 percent (26-for-70). Delhi also shot 37.5 percent (9-for-24) from long range and 65.4 percent (17-for-26) from the free throw line to NHTI's 36.8 percent (7-for-19) and 68.8 percent (11-for-16), respectively. The same could be said with rebounds, with the Lynx holding a slim 47-46 advantage on the glass and a 12-9 lead in offensive boards.

Though NHTI enjoyed several spurts of holding big leads, the Broncos never trailed by more than 11 points, and even took a fourth-quarter lead at 60-59 on an Echols layup with 5:54 to go. A McDonald jump shot followed to give Delhi a 62-60 lead with 5:25 left before the Lynx jumped on a 12-2 run over roughly the next four minutes to secure the victory.

Salley's game-high scoring performance now puts her at 819 career points. The sophomore is closing in on joining SUNY Delhi hall-of-famer Jennifer LePinnet-Clark (2002-04) on becoming the second Bronco to score 1,000 career points, and the second to reach the feat in just two years.
