Broncos Conquer Cannoneers 84-51, Jump to 7-3

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (December 1, 2017) – Back from Thanksgiving break, the refreshed SUNY Delhi women's basketball team made room for seconds Friday night with a decisive 84-51 win at Pratt. The victory put Delhi back in the win column at 7-3, erasing a two-game losing streak.

The Broncos shot 46.2 percent for the evening (36-for-78), despite only making 3-of-14 from 3-point range and 9-of-13 from the free throw line. The Cannoneers fared 36.7 percent (22-for-60), 2-for-14 and 5-for-16, respectively. An even bigger factor came in the form of Delhi forcing Pratt 33 turnovers for 38 points. The Broncos turned the ball over 21 times, which the Cannoneers only redeemed for 15 points. Delhi also had a 49-39 lead in rebounds and a 40-16 advantage in the paint.

Kiera Holland lit it up in Brooklyn with a game-high 24 points, making 10-of-20 from the floor, while recording five steals. Samiaya Salley made 21 points for her seventh 20-point game, along with recording seven assists and five boards. She shot 10-for-18. Katie Herba finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and six steals. Camryn McDonald had nine points and a team-high ten rebounds, while Sam Acuna added eight markers, making two of Delhi's three triples on the night.

The game was tied only once at 11-11 with 4:25 to go in the first quarter. Delhi never relinquished the lead, and ahead just 21-15 after one, the Broncos shifted gears in the second quarter to lead, 41-24, at the half. Delhi stretched its lead to as much as 34 points late in the fourth quarter.

Coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz's team looks to keep their momentum going when they host College of St. Joseph on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:00 p.m. in Floyd L. Maines Arena.
