Lady Hoopsters Drop Tuesday Semi-Matinee to Maine Fort Kent

DELHI, N.Y. (November 21, 2017) – Despite another night with three Broncos scoring in double digits, as well as double-doubles from Camryn McDonald and Katie Herba, the SUNY Delhi women's basketball team dropped a 64-52 decision to Maine Fort Kent Tuesday evening. The Broncos enter Thanksgiving weekend at 6-3, with their next contest at Pratt on December 1.

Camryn McDonald had her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and ten rebounds. Katie Herba joined her in that category with 12 points and 12 boards, including five offensive. Samiaya Salley totaled 12 points with seven rebounds, while Kiera Holland scored nine points with five boards. Diana Echols added four points and six rebounds.

While both sides fared relatively similar from the floor, it was from behind the arc and the charity stripe that made a solid difference. The Broncos were 0-for-7 from long range and 10-for-23 from the line, while the Bengals made 6-of-28 and 18-of-22, respectively. Delhi led, 54-43, on the boards, 14-6 in second-chance points and 32-26 in points in the paint. The Broncos were guilty, though, of 19 turnovers, which MFK cashed in for 17 points.

The Bengals led for the entire game, and took a 35-25 lead into halftime. While Delhi narrowed the gap to 40-39 near the end of the third quarter, the Bengals went on to outscore the Broncos, 22-13, in the fourth quarter. MFK was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the final period, compared to Delhi's 3-for-9 showing from the stripe. The Broncos also committed seven turnovers in the final session.
