Women's Hoops Pounce Panthers 81-66

ALBANY, N.Y. (November 15, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team returned to the win column in ferocious fashion Wednesday evening, pouncing on the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy, 81-66. The Broncos run their record to 5-1, continuing their best start under head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz.

Guards Samiaya Salley and Kiera Holland each tallied 20-point games Wednesday. Salley recorded a double-double with 27 points and 12 assists, while Holland had 26 points. It was Salley's fourth 20-point game of the year and second double-double, while Holland's performance marked her second 20-point showing of the season. Katie Herba had Delhi's second double-double of the evening with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Camryn McDonald, the reigning ACAA and NIAC Athlete of the Week, finished with eight points and a team-best 13 boards.

SUNY Delhi shot a season-best 53.7 percent, making 36-of-67 from the floor, while ACPHS managed a 39.7 percent mark, making 29-of-73. The Broncos fared 3-of-11 from 3-point range, with the Panthers connecting on just 3-of-23 from behind the arc. Delhi outrebounded ACPHS, 44-38, and cashed in 18 turnovers for 25 points. The Panthers made only five points off 18 Broncos turnovers.

Delhi led for most of the game, even extending their lead to as much as 16 at 45-29 with 3:58 to play in the second quarter. The Broncos led, 47-42, at halftime, and while the Panthers pulled to within one at 50-49 in the third quarter, Delhi maintained the lead, taking a 66-56 advantage into the fourth quarter. ACPHS never got closer than eight points in the final period.
