Broncos Battle Tough in Overtime Defeat to Fisher

DELHI, N.Y. (November 13, 2017) – Five games into their season, the SUNY Delhi women's basketball team suffered their first defeat of the season Sunday, battling Fisher to overtime and coming up on the short end of a 72-65 decision. The contest was tied at 61-61 at the end of regulation. Despite buckets from Camryn McDonald and Samiaya Salley, the Falcons' 11 points in the extra session were too much to overcome.

Freshman guard Kiera Holland led the game with 18 points, making 3-of-5 3-pointers, before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Salley, who has scored in double digits in every game for Delhi this year, scored 17 points with six rebounds, while McDonald had 11 points with six boards. Sam Acuna connected on seven points and led the Broncos with ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, the Broncos are off to the best start under head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz, who is in her third season. Delhi has another busy week ahead of them, traveling to Albany College of Pharmacy on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., followed by home meetings with Berkeley on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and The Apprentice School on Sunday at noon.
