Salley Drops 30, Echols, McDonald with Double-Doubles in 83-54 Rout of Vermont Tech

RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. (November 8, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi women's basketball team kept their hot streak going Wednesday evening, with Samiaya Salley shooting 6-for-7 from 3-point range for 30 points and double-doubles from Camryn McDonald and Diana Echols for an 83-54 road win at Vermont Tech. The win puts Delhi at 3-0, going a perfect 3-for-3 on its road trip to start the year.

Salley finished her night shooting 11-for-24 from the field, along with seven rebounds, five steals and five rebounds. McDonald had her third straight double-double, totaling 14 points, 18 rebounds and seven steals, while Echols had ten points with 14 boards. McDonald and Echols each had six offensive rebounds. Freshman guard Kiera Holland finished second for Delhi with 18 points.

The Knights jumped out to a 7-0 lead just less than two minutes into the game. After a timeout by Delhi, the Broncos went on a 22-3 scoring run over the next five minutes, never to look back. Salley had 14 of her points in the opening quarter, going a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc. The closest Vermont Tech would come after that was cutting the lead to 55-46 with 1:35 left in the third quarter. The Broncos would pull away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Knights, 24-8.

Delhi outrebounded Vermont Tech, 46-33, and forced the Knights into 30 turnovers for 42 points. Backed by Salley's performance, the Broncos finished 7-for-11 from behind the arc, with the remaining three coming from Sam Acuna, who had eight points. Delhi made 33-of-79 from the floor, compared to Vermont Tech's 23-for-59, and hit on 10-of-13 free throws to the Knights' 5-of-12 from the stripe.

The Broncos make their home debut this weekend, hosting Villa Maria on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Fisher on Sunday at noon.
