PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 26, 2019) – SUNY Delhi men's track and field distance runners Kobie Lane and Nicholas Arnecke made a return trip to Franklin Field Thursday to compete at the 125th running of Penn Relays. Lane and Arnecke took flight in the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, respectively, the same events the two competed in at last year's Penn Relays.

With an evening race start time of approximately 9:20 p.m., Lane used the historic backdrop for his own historic accomplishment, breaking the nine-year-old SUNY Delhi 5K record with a time of 14:37.71 to place third in his heat and 38th overall. He surpassed the previous school standard of 14:45.37 held by Chris Burke, which he set at the 2010 Penn Relays. Arnecke then took the stage for the 10K later in the evening, at approximately 11:00 p.m., to finish 24th with a NAC season-best time of 31:20.94.

At the 2018 Penn Relays, Arnecke broke the school 10K record with a time of 30:44.92, breaking Chris Mason's previous mark of 31:09.31 set at the 2009 Penn Relays. Lane came within .37 seconds of his then career best in the 5K at 14:52.58.

Arnecke, Lane and the Broncos will now take their skills to this Saturday and Sunday's NAC/GNAC/NECC Championships, hosted by Regis College. The men were ranked second in the NAC's Pre-Championship Poll, just one vote behind top-ranked Husson.
