Binghamton Natives Sweep NAC Field Athletes of the Week

WATERVILLE, Me. (April 24, 2019) – In the final week of competition prior to the conference championships, the SUNY Delhi track and field team received two more NAC Athlete of the Week honorees, solidifying the Broncos a spot on the awards list every week of the outdoor season. Junior Susan Hoskins (Binghamton, NY / Susquehanna Valley) was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week following a PR multi performance at SUNY Cortland's heptathlon, while sophomore jumper Alex Irving (Binghamton, NY / Chenango Valley) received Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a career triple jump showing at East Stroudsburg. A total of eight different Broncos earned conference weekly praise over the last four weeks.

Hoskins finished tenth overall in the seven-event competition with 3,188 points, boosting her career high by 236 points. She earned her highest point total in the high jump, finishing fifth at 1.48m for 599 points. The junior also grabbed 552 points in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.40, and 542 points in the 200-meter dash at 29.16. Her other performances included the 800-meter run (2:50.45, 461 pts.), long jump (4.13m, 338 pts.), shot put (7.20m, 348 pts.), and the javelin (23.16m, 348 pts.).

Irving set both a new career high and an AARTFC-qualifying mark in the triple jump on two of his three attempts. While the Binghamton, NY native accomplished both feats on his first attempt alone at 13.51m, Irving was not yet satisfied, moving his mark up even more on his third and final jump at 13.84m to place second in the event. He also took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 6.06m.

Hoskins, Irving and the Broncos are just a few days away from a busy championship week. Delhi will make a visit to Penn Relays on Thursday, followed by competing at the NAC/GNAC/NECC Championships this Saturday and Sunday at Regis College.
