Oranchak Runs and Jumps to Team Highs at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. (February 17, 2019) – SUNY Delhi track and field made another high-profile appearance Saturday at Cornell's Marc Deneault Invitational. Madeeah Oranchak was the women's standout performer, recording three team season highs on the ladies' side.

Oranchak sprinted to a time of 8.17 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries to qualify for the finals, where she finished eighth with a time of 8.29. She then ran a 27.76 in the 200 meters to place 11th, and followed it up jumping to 4.88m for third place in the long jump. All three marks are a season high for the Broncos. Jaylynn Sheppard also made some waves on the straightaway with a lifetime-best 8.27 in the 60-meter prelims. Arielle Moheimani picked up a team season best in the mile, finishing 22nd with a time of 5:57.30. Ashley Magnifico and Erica Cornmire took one-two in their section in the 300 meters, with Magnifico placing 12th overall at 45.52 and Cornmire 13th at 45.54.

Freshman Owen Sleasman garnered a lifetime and team season best in the 60 meters, taking a 7.23 preliminary time with him to the finals, where he placed fifth with a time of 7.24. He also took fifth in the 200 meters at 23.67. The distance medley team of Ted Oster, Sean Andrews, Lucas Reilly and Kobie Lane won their event with a time of 10:43.53. In the field, Glenn Butler Jr., after high jumping his way to the AARTFC at Colgate last week, followed up with a second-place finish in the high jump at 1.90m. He then made his way to the pit, finishing third in the long jump at 6.58m. Matthew Scavetta placed third in the pole vault with a height of 4.35m. Bladimir Pena finished first in his section in the mile, taking tenth overall with a time of 4:41.84.

Head coach Robb Munro's team has one more indoor meet before AARTFC's when they head to New York City Armory once more for the last chance invite on Friday.
