Arnecke Named Google Cloud Academic All-American; Beebe, McIntyre Earn All-District

AUSTIN, Texas (June 22, 2018) – Distance runner Nicholas Arnecke (Edmeston, NY / Edmeston) added yet another honor to his historic junior season when he landed a spot on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division Track & Field/Cross Country First Team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In addition, Arnecke, sophomore Michael Beebe (Windsor, NY / Windsor) and junior Elise McIntyre (Red Creek, NY / Red Creek) were chosen to that committee's Academic All-District Team.

Arnecke is a Hospitality Management major with a 3.98 cumulative GPA. Beebe majors in Information Technology Management with a 3.44 GPA, while McIntyre is and Architecture major, holding a 3.87 GPA. All three Broncos were recognized this year as USCAA National All-Academics, with McIntyre being named the USCAA Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division Track & Field/Cross Country Teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. Arnecke and the rest of the men's first team had a combined GPA of 3.88 and included four student-athletes with perfect 4.0 marks.

In cross country, Arnecke finished second (26:06.50) at the USCAA National Championships in November to earn All-American and help SUNY Delhi to its second straight national team title. In 2016, prior to helping the Broncos to their first USCAA title, he was honored as the USCAA Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the year.  

During the indoor track season, the Edmeston, NY native and former walk-on set a new school record in the 5K at the Ramapo Season Opener in the New York Armory with a time of 14:59.92. He broke the previous mark of 15:17.1 set by Jeremy Cornue in 2000 to become Delhi's first sub-15 minute runner. Arnecke qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships in the 5K, where he placed 12th at 15:17.83.

As for outdoor track, Arnecke qualified for the prestigious Penn Relays, where he set a school record in the 10K with a time of 30:44.62, good for 13th place. He passed the prior record of 31:09.31 set by Chris Mason at the 2009 Penn Relays.

Beebe qualified for NAIA Indoor Nationals in the high jump in March, where he placed 12th with a height of 1.98. He went on to clear a career-best 2.06m at the USCAA Outdoor National Invite in April to win the event.

McIntyre finished her cross country season with a 42nd-place finish (27:49.76) at USCAAs to help the women place sixth, matching their team placement from the previous year. The junior earned first team all-conference at the ACAA Championships, placing sixth at 27:39.9, as SUNY Delhi finished second.
