Five Tracksters Earn NAC All-Academic

WATERVILLE, Me. (June 1, 2018) – Five SUNY Delhi track and field athletes made the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Winter and Spring All-Academic Team. The conference's academic recognition featured Nicholas Arnecke (Edmeston, NY / Edmeston), Connor Adkins (Allendale, NJ / Northern Highlands), Ashley Magnifico (Bayport, NY / Bayport-Blue Point), Jon Messler (Washingtonville, NY / Washingtonville) and Cheyenne Weaver (Andes, NY / Andes).

Arnecke, a junior, is a Hospitality Management major with a 3.98 GPA. Adkins, a sophomore, majors in Construction Management with a 3.88 GPA. Magnifico is a sophomore, majoring in accounting with a 3.88 GPA. Messler, a sophomore, majors in Criminal Justice with a 3.60 GPA. Weaver is a sophomore, majoring in Criminal Justice with a 3.91 GPA.

The Broncos wrapped up their first outdoor season in the NAC by winning ten events at the league championships, hosted by Colby-Sawyer College. Messler won the 5,000-meter run, while Magnifico took the 4x100 with teammates Arielle Moheimani, Jaylynn Sheppard and Erica Cornmire. Weaver finished second in the shot put, as Adkins grabbed 11th in the 200-meter dash.

Magnifico, who also finished second in the 4x400, was subsequently named to the NAC Sportsmanship Team. The sophomore was one of two players selected from each team "who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the track and field culture and environment and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that go beyond the competition rules and etiquette."
