PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (April 27, 2018) – SUNY Delhi distance runners Nicholas Arnecke and Kobie Lane ran at the prestigious Penn Relays Thursday at historic Franklin Field.
Arnecke set a new school record in the 10,000 meters, placing 13th with a time of 30:44.62. He broke the previous SUNY Delhi record of 31:09.31, set by Chris Mason at Penn Relays in 2009. In the 24-runner field, the junior beat out athletes from Notre Dame, Villanova, Mississippi State and Cornell.
Lane finished 19th in his heat and 74th overall in the 5,000 meters with a mark of 14:52.58, beating out runners from colleges such as Pittsburgh, Lehigh, Maine and Georgia Tech. The junior nearly matched his career best of 14:52.21, which he set at the Ramapo College Invitational on March 30.
Lane and Arnecke will compete again at the NAC Championships on Sunday at Colby-Sawyer College. But not before the Broncos prepare to host the USCAA National Invitational this Saturday in hopes of repeating as champions.
