CORTLAND, N.Y. (April 22, 2018) – SUNY Delhi track and field spent the weekend at the SUNY Cortland Classic, with most of the team competing on Saturday, and the women's multi-athletes participating both days in the heptathlon. The Broncos' sole victory in the Red Dragons' den came in record-breaking fashion on Saturday, when Matthew Scavetta won the pole vault with a height of 4.43m. While the event took place indoors, he set an outdoor track and field school record, passing the previous record of 4.42m set by Bob Jahrling in 1993.

Over at the heptathlon, Arielle Moheimani led Delhi with a 14th-place finish with 3,271 points. Susan Hoskins took 21st with 2,952 points, while Ashanti Mirville finished 23rd with 2,709 points. Moheimani's highest finish came in the javelin throw, taking fourth at 26.86m. She also had a pair of eighth-place marks in the 200-meter dash (28.29) and the 800-meter run (2:39.81). Hoskins' highest placement came in the high jump in fourth place at 1.49m. Mirville's highlight was the high jump, taking sixth place with a distance of 1.46m.

Thrower Brandon Holliday, who posted three wins at last weekend's Bronco Classic, followed up with a third-place finish in the shot put at 14.18m and fourth in the discus invitational at 45.80m. He also took seventh in the hammer throw at 48.80m. Jumper Glenn Butler finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.82m, while runner Mike Moran took fifth in the 400-meter dash at 50.49.

Sprinter Madeeah Oranchak led the women with a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 26.47. The 4x100 team of Ashley Magnifico, Arielle Moheimani, Jaylynn Sheppard and Erica Cornmire took fifth with a time of 51.79.

The Broncos have a busy week ahead of them. On Thursday, distance runners Nicholas Arnecke and Kobie Lane will compete at Penn Relays. Saturday sees SUNY Delhi hosting the USCAA National Invitational, followed by the team heading to Sunday's NAC Championships, hosted by Colby-Sawyer College.
