Arnecke, Lane to Run at Penn Relays

DELHI, N.Y. (April 20, 2018) – SUNY Delhi track and field distance runners Nicholas Arnecke (Edmeston, NY / Edmeston) and Kobie Lane (Port Jervis, NY / Port Jervis)  have qualified to run at Penn Relays on Thursday, April 26 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. Lane, who already has a USCAA Cross Country National Championship and NAIA Indoor Track All-American honors under his belt this season, will run in the 5,000 meters. Arnecke, who finished second at USCAA Cross Country Nationals and competed at NAIA Indoor Nationals, will run the 10,000 meters.

Lane, a junior, posted a new outdoor personal best in the 5K at the Ramapo College Invitational on March 30 with a time of 14:52.21, good for first place. The Port Jervis, NY native went on to clock in first-place finishes in the 3K (8:43.95) at the TCNJ Invite on April 6 and the 1500 meters (4:01.95) at the Bronco Classic on April 14, setting a new PR in the latter. He placed sixth in the 3K at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Pittsburg, KA with a mark of 8:38.43, becoming SUNY Delhi's first-ever four-year track and field All-American.

Arnecke, also a junior, set a career best in the 10K at the Ramapo Invitational, placing first with a time of 31:30.16. He followed that up with a first-place showing in the 5K at the Bronco Classic with a time of 15:17.28. During the indoor season, the Edmeston, NY native and former walk-on set a new school record in the 5K at the Ramapo Season Opener in the New York Armory with a time of 14:59.92. He broke the previous mark of 15:17.1 set by Jeremy Cornue in 2000 to become Delhi's first sub-15 minute runner.
