MAHWAH, N.J. (March 31, 2018) – SUNY Delhi track and field ventured to the Ramapo College Invitational Friday and Saturday for the first of their two-meet stretch in the state of New Jersey. The competition featured the likes of NJIT, SUNY Oswego, Vassar and even UConn.
The distance runners took center stage in the Friday portion, with Kobie Lane and Nicholas Arnecke dominating the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters, respectively, with new facility records. Lane bested the 49-man field with a time of 14:52.21, while Arnecke handily took his race with a mark of 31:30.16, roughly one minute, 40 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. In the field, Brandon Holliday finished second in the shot put at 13.90m, while Diana Echols took third in the shot put at 10.57m.
On Saturday, Arielle Moheimani and Madeeah Oranchak placed high to the highlight the women's day. Moheimani took sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:12.93, while Oranchak took sixth place in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 12.85. Oranchak also led the lady Broncos in the long jump, placing 13th with a measurement of 4.61m.
Matthew Scavetta led the guys Saturday, placing third in the pole vault with a height of 4.00m. Ian Luhmann took seventh in the 100-meter dash at 11.40, while Esdras Charles placed eighth in the 400-meter dash at 51.16.
Head coach Robb Munro's squad returns to New Jersey next weekend, heading further down into the state to take on the TCNJ Invitational.
