VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 26, 2018) – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) have awarded men's indoor track and field athletes Nicholas Arnecke (Edmeston, NY / Edmeston), Connor Adkins (Allendale, NJ / Northern Highlands), Michael Beebe (Windsor, NY / Windsor) and Jon Messler (Washingtonville, NY / Washingtonville) selections on the National All-Academic Team. This team recognizes USCAA winter student-athletes for academic achievement who compete outside of league-sponsored sports.
Arnecke, who was also a USCAA National All-Academic selection in the fall for cross country, majors in Restaurant and Food Service Management with a 3.98 GPA. Adkins majors in Construction Management with a 3.93 GPA. Beebe is an Information Technology Management major with a 3.64 GPA. Messler majors in Criminal Justice, holding a 3.52 GPA.
Both Arnecke and Beebe competed at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Pittsburg, Kan. in early March after posting qualifying marks during their outstanding seasons. Arnecke finished 12th nationally in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:17.83, while Beebe also took 12th at national in the high jump with a height of 1.98. Arnecke qualified for NAIA's after breaking the school 5K record at the Ramapo Season Opener at the New York City Armory, becoming the Broncos' first sub-15 minute runner at 14:59.92. Beebe qualified after twice jumping for 2.00m during the indoor season, the first time at the Colgate Class of '32 Invite and second at the Armory Last Chance Invite.
Adkins competed for Delhi in sprints, running the 60, 200, 300 and 400 meters, as well as the 4x400. His best placement came in the 4x400 at the Colgate Class of '32 Invite, where he, Sean Andrews, Esdras Charles and Keyshawn Clark-Wells took third with a time of 3:32.32. Messler competed for the Broncos this winter in distance, taking runs in the 3000 and 5000 meters, one mile and the 4x400. His highest finish came at the Armory Last Chance, where he took third in the 3K with a time of 9:07.76.
