Broncos Sweep USCAA National Invitational; Echols Breaks Hammer Record

Results

The SUNY Delhi Track and Field teams swept the USCAA National Invitational held at SUNY Delhi. The women piled up 233 points, 105 points ahead of runner-up Abany College of Pharmacy.  On the men's side, the team scored 262 points to outdistance runner-up Alfred State by 105.5 points.

Leading the way for the women was freshman Madeeah Oranchak who won three individual events, placed second in another and was on a winning realy team.  Oranchak won the 200 meters (26.62), the long jump (5.06m) the triple jump (10.53m) and placed second in the 100 meters (12.65). Oranchak also teamed up with Ashley Magnifico, Nikita Hall and Erica Cornmire to win the 4x100 meter realy (50.43).

Magnifico picked up a win of her own with a three-second season best in the 400 meters, winning in 1:01.62 and led off the winning 4x400 relay team which finished first alongside Isamrie Ramos, Hall and Kelsey Esselman.  Bronco women also won three throwing events with Cheyenne Weaver winning the shot put (10.50m), Laura Ryder winning the discus (29.45m) and Diana Echols winning the hammer throw (38.76m).  Echols throw in the hammer also established a new school record for the event!

The men were led by four dual winners.  Jack Hillenbrand won the 1,500 meters (4:10.68) and the 5,000 meters (15:27.18), Brandon Holliday won the discus (45.16m) and the hammer throw (40.95m), Doug Williams won the 200 meters (22.65)and the long jump (6.73m) and Francisco Wilson-King won the 110 high hurdles (16.43) and the 400 hurdles (56.20).  The team also picked up three individual wins from athletes that all posted lifetime bests in those efforts.  Troy Dickson won the triple jump (13.66m), Mike Beebe won the high jump (2.00m) and Nick Arnecke won the 10,000 meters (33:04.30).

The teams will travel one more time this season to Vassar on Friday for a twilight meet.
