Broncos Win Four Events at Cortland

Results

The SUNY Delhi Track and Field teams won four events and posted many strong performances at the Cortland Classic Track and Field Invitational.

Leading the way with wins in the long jump and triple jump was senior Keimon Barrow.  Barrow won the long jump with a mark of 7.22 meters, just one centimeter behind the school record in the event and nine centimeters ahead of runner-up and teammate Doug Williams.  Also picking up a win was freshman Mike Beebe in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters.   The final event win came from junior Jack Hillenbrand who won the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:29.24.  That time is the second fastest in school history.

Also posting a top end performance was freshman Diana Echols in the hammer throw.  Echols threw 37.76 meters to move to number three on the schools all-time list, only one centimeter off of the second best mark.  In the men's 5,000 meters, freshman Jon Messler and sophomore Kobie Lane placed second and third overall, posting the third and fourth fastest times in school history with times of 15:20.29 and 15:21.27 respectively.

Sophomore Andrew Davis placed second in the steeplechase with a new personal best of 9:46.07. Doug Williams, who placed second in the long jump, also placed third in the 200 meters with a great time of 22.66 into a strong headwind. Freshman Brandon Holliday threw a new personal best in the discus with a mark of 45.49 meters to place fourth and sophomore Nick Arnecke placed fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:38.77.  The womens 400 meter relay team of Ashley Magnifico, Madeeah Oranchak, Nikita Hall and Erica Cornmire placed fifth in the meet and Oranchak added a sixth place finish in the the triple jump.

The teams will compete at Cornell University this week before hosting the USCAA National Invitational this coming weekend.
