Broncos Win Colgate Class of '32 Invitational

The Broncos Track and Field teams traveled to Colgate University for the Class of '32 Invitational. The 10 team meet included division I programs from Colgate and Siena as well as division II programs from LeMoyne, Roberts Wesleyan and Saint Rose.  The team had a number of great performances including them men's team winning the meet decisively, outscoring runner-up Colgate by 34.5 points.

Leading the way for the men was the squad of jumpers.  Delhi athletes compilede 60.5 points by placing 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 in the long jump, 1, 2, 5, 6 in the high jump and 4, 7 in the triple jump. Senior Keimon Barrow won the long jump and the high jump, sophomore Doug Williams placed second in the long jump and senior Brian McLeod placed second in the high jump.  Williams also won the 200 meters with a very fast 22.60 second clocking that ranks third all-time in program history. Finally, Williams and Barrow teamed up with senior Francisco Wilson-King and sophomore Ricardo Castello to win the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:26.81, three tenths of a second ahead of Colgate.

Another very strong performance came from freshman thrower Brandon Holliday who threw large personal bests in both throwing events.  In the weight throw for only the third time in his life, he added over two meters to his previous best to place fourth.  In the shot put, he added another big personal best with a mark of 12.78 meters to win the event.

Jack Hillenbrand added a second place finish in 3000 meters (8:54.95), freshman Jon Messler added a third place finish in the mile (4:34.23) and Wilson-King added a third place finish in the hurdles (9.02).

The women's team also saw its fair share of season best performances.  Freshman Madeeah Oranchack placed third in both the 60 meter dash (8.19) and the 200 meters (27.03).  Fellow freshman Ashley Magnifico and Nikita Hall added scoring performances with season best times in the 60 meter dash (8.40) and the 200 meters (27.89) respectively.

Sophomore Isamarie Ramos ran an eight second season best in the 1,000 meters to score and then teamed up with Magnifico, senior Kelsey Esselman and sophomore Rainey Cerqua to place fourth the 4x400 meter relay.  Freshman Susan Hoskins tied her best ever high jump mark at 1.40 meters to score points with a seventh place finish.  Finally, senior Antori Abraham rounded out the team scoring with a fourth place finish in the weight throw (12.06m) and a fifth place finish in the shot put (9.66m).

The teams will travel to Cornell University next weekend for the Denault Invitational.
