DELHI, N.Y. (February 18, 2020) – Head coach Mike Burud and his SUNY Delhi swimming and diving team are ready to hit the pool this week for the AMCC/Empire 8 Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day competition runs from Wednesday, Feb. 19 to Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Webster Aquatics Center in Webster, N.Y.

In their second season as members of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), Coach Burud's Broncos look to build upon the foundation they laid during last year's conference championships. It was there that Julia Witt set a new school record in the 1,650-yard freestyle relay with a time of 21:05.91.

Since the start of this season, the women have broken three more school records. Freshman Kaitlyn Quezada set a new school standard in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.28. The 200-yard freestyle team of Quezada, Alexandria Caceres, Gabriela Solis, and Witt established a new mark of 1:50.46. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Caceres, Witt, Solis, and Quezada set a new school record with a time of 4:07.02.

On the men's side, sophomores James Brunt, Jonathon Brathwaite, and Jeremiah Brathwaite return for their second AMCC competition. Brunt competed last year in the freestyle events, finishing the 100 yards in 1:02.66 and the 200 yards at 2:15.68. Jonathon Brathwaite completed the 50-yard freestyle in 29.87, the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:20.15, and the 200-yard breaststroke at 3:11.09. He has since bested his times in the 50 free at 28.76 and 100 breast at 1:19.94. Jeremiah Brathwaite performed the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:27.50.

Freshman diver Joshua Lopez was named the AMCC Diver of the Week back in November after posting a season-best 126.55 points in the one-meter diving.
