SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (February 3, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi women's and men's swimming and diving teams wrapped up their regular season Saturday at the Skidmore Sprint Invitational. The men tallied four top-five finishes on the day, while Caitlyn Dowd led the women with a pair of eighth-place marks.
The gentlemen started off the day taking fifth in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of Robert Armistead, Jonathon Brathwaite, Jacob Shoemaker and Jeremiah Brathwaite clocking in at 2:17.17. Armistead went on to take fifth in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:18.47, while Shoemaker took fifth in the 400-yard IM at 6:15.89. The men closed out the day with their highest finish at third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The group of Jeremiah Brathwaite, Jonathon Brathwaite, James Brunt and Shoemaker finished at 1:59.85.
Dowd took eighth in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:25.38 and the 100-yard IM at 1:27.58. She finished out her day taking tenth in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:45.19. Julia Witt competed in three events, with her highest mark coming in 13th in the 50-yard butterfly at 32.92. Madison Saleman also swam in three events, taking her best placement in 13th in the 50-yard freestyle at 37.15.
With the regular season now over, head coach Mike Burud's swimmers now focus their attention towards their first-ever AMCC Championships, hosted by Penn State Behrend, from Wednesday, Feb. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 16.
