DELHI, N.Y. (January 23, 2019) – SUNY Delhi swimming and diving welcomed Wells to Kunsela Hall Wednesday evening for a dual meet. In their first taste of action of 2019, the men combined for four wins as they were narrowly edged out by the Express, 277-261. Julia Witt posted a victory on the night to lead the women as they racked up 152 points to Wells' 437.

Prior to competition, head coach Mike Burud recognized graduating swimmer Jacob Shoemaker in his final career home meet. Shoemaker competed individually for times in three events, and was part of the Broncos' relay teams in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay, anchoring the latter squad to a win. He, alongside Jonathon Brathwaite, John Cosmus and Jeremiah Brathwaite, finished the freestyle with a time of 2:06.86.

Damon Keefer picked up the men's first victory of the day, coming out on top in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 33.51. Freshman Robert Armistead earned a victory in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:17.57, while Daniel Landis took the 500-yard freestyle at 7:37.64.

Witt also captured the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 6:19.50. In addition, she picked up second-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle at 12:51.90 and the 100-yard freestyle at 1:02.66. Caitlyn Dowd took second in the 50-yard freestyle at 33.45 and the 100-yard butterfly at 1:28.47. Madison Saleman took second in the 100-yard backstroke, timing in at 1:31.73.

Coach Burud's team now gets ready to make a weekend trip to fellow AMCC school Alfred State for Saturday's Pioneer Classic at 11:00 a.m.
