Delhi Swims to Three Wins at Wilkes Tri-Match

TEAM-ONLY RESULTS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (January 27, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi swimming and diving team headed out to Wilkes University on Saturday for a tri-match with the Colonels and local foe SUNY Cobleskill. Against Wilkes, the Broncos men scored 37 points to the Colonels' 155, while the women totaled 36 points to the Colonels' 102 points. Versus the Fighting Tigers, the men tallied 70 points to Cobleskill's 129, as the women posted 38 points to the Fighting Tigers' 114 points.

Samantha Bowker and Julia Witt each collected a victory for the ladies. Bowker won the 50-yard backstroke at 36.30, while Witt was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.47, edging out Wilkes' Kyleigh Smeltzer by .26 seconds. Witt also placed second in two events, the first coming in the 1000-yard freestyle at 13:38.45 and the second in the 50-yard butterfly, coaxing in with a mark of 33.44.

On the men's side, Jacob Shoemaker won the 200-yard IM with a time of 3:05.21. Diver SeJean Gibbs took second place in the one-meter diving with 144.60 points and swam his way to a third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, clocking in at 34.56. Marc Piccott took third in the 50-yard breaststroke at 36.87.

The Broncos conclude their busy week at Ithaca's Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
