CHESTNUT HILL, Ma. (April 7, 2019) – Coming off a road doubleheader sweep at Morrisville State on Thursday, the SUNY Delhi softball team continued their travels, and success, on Saturday at ACAA-foe Pine Manor. The Broncos combined for 35 runs over ten innings against the Gators, taking the first game, 16-0, and second game, 19-0, for a pair of five-inning wins. Head coach Meagan Hillard's team has now won four straight games to even their record to 5-5, with their next challenge set at SUNY Canton this Tuesday and Wednesday in a four-game series.

The Broncos took the Gators for a season-high 17 hits in both games, totaling eight doubles, three triples, two home runs and 33 RBIs. Haylee Lefebvre was responsible for both homers, going 5-for-6 with 8 RBIs, including five in the latter. She also pitched a complete game in the opener to improve to 2-2 on the season.

The Broncos struck right away with two runs in the first, supplied by a Shelby Nolan RBI double and a sac fly by Samantha Mendelsohn. But the bats came alive in the second, as Delhi put an eight in the box off six hits. Following three more runs in the third, one in the fourth and two in the fifth, pitcher Haylee Lefebvre and the Broncos in the field shut out the Gators to close in on the five-inning win for Delhi's first shutout victory of 2019.

Lefebvre threw a career-best ten strikeouts, allowing just four hits with two walks. She batted 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, including a fifth-inning two-run homer to center. Yesileidy Paulino was 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and a double, while Nolan also went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and one two-bagger. Natasha Picozzi was 2-for-3, tallying 2 RBIs and a double, as Sierra Keesler went 2-for-4 at the plate, also hitting for 2 RBIs and a double. Dakota Baker went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a double.

For the first time all day, the Broncos were held scoreless for an inning through the opening frame. This didn't last long, however, as Delhi made it up with ten runs in the second inning off only three hits. Following two bases-loaded walks for the ladies' first pair of runs, Shelby Nolan jumped on her bases-packed opportunity with a three-run triple, only to come home herself on a throwing error by the left fielder. Pitcher Molly Greene padded her lead with an RBI single, and on the next at bat, Haylee Lefebvre hit a three-run home run to center field for runs eight, nine and ten. Delhi continued to plate six runs in the third and three more in the fourth.

Greene preserved another shutout win for Delhi with six strikeouts and allowing only two hits to improve to 3-3 on the year. Shelby Nolan and Natasha Picozzi each went 4-for-5 in the nightcap, with Nolan earning two triples and five RBIs, and Picozzi one double, one triple and two RBIs. Lefebvre also had five RBIs, going 2-for-3 with a home run. Dakota Baker went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and two walks, while Rachael Scoones batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
