MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 3, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi softball team finished out their four-day, 11-game spring break trip Saturday with a standalone game versus Alpena and a doubleheader against NCAA Division II Walsh. A three-run Lumberjacks seventh dipped the Broncos to a 4-1 defeat, then Delhi was swept by the Cavaliers 13-0 and 14-0. Head coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz's team's first scheduled contest back home is against Alfred State on Saturday, Mar. 24.

ALPENA 4, SUNY DELHI 1

Alpena took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Delhi evened things up in the bottom of the fourth when a wild pitch brought home Emily Clapper. Pitcher Jenna Lutz struck out four and gave up nine hits in a complete-game performance. All four of Alpena's runs, however, came unearned. A throwing erroring the top of the seventh allowed two runners to score, which was followed by an RBI triple from Lumberjack Morgan Armon. Delhi totaled four hits, but committed six errors, left seven on base and were struck out ten times by hurler Kelsey Huffman.

WALSH 13, SUNY DELHI 0

Starter Haylee Lefebvre allowed just four runs over three innings, but Walsh exploded for nine runs in the fourth to put the mercy rule in effect. The Broncos' offense was stifled by a perfect-game performance from Olivia Pfifer, who totaled ten K's. Lefebvre pitched 3.2 innings, striking out three and allowing 3 earned runs (12 total) on nine hits. Jenna Lutz came on in relief to record the final out, but not before allowing one run and two hits.

WALSH 14, SUNY DELHI 0

Walsh opened the nightcap with a six-run first, then tacked on three runs in the third, four in the fourth and one in the fifth. Starter Renee Stilwell pitched just the first inning, allowing two earned runs (six total) on three hits. Jenna Lutz hurled the middle three innings, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits, while Molly Greene pitched the fifth, allowing one earned run on three hits. The Broncos delivered a pair of hits, including a stand-up double by Samantha Mendelsohn and an infield single by Dakota Baker.
