MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 1, 2018) – SUNY Delhi softball carried on for day two of its four-day spring break trip with a trio of games Thursday. The Broncos began their day being swept by NAIA-power Breneau, 8-0 and 16-1, and fell short in a back-and-forth 10-8 contest with Lehman, which, despite a late Delhi rally, was cut short after six-and-a-half innings due to rain.

BRENEAU 8, SUNY DELHI 0 (FIVE INNINGS)

Haylee Lefebvre's fifth-inning single accounted for the Broncos' lone hit through the five-inning affair, as Breneau's Kaleigh Sullivan twirled for nine strikeouts. Starter Renee Stilwell gave up three earned runs (seven total) and five hits in 2.0 innings at work, which included one run in the first and a six-run second by the Golden Tigers. Jenna Lutz pitched the remainder, giving up just the game-ending RBI single in the bottom of the fifth, and allowing only three hits.

BRENEAU 16, SUNY DELHI 1 (FIVE INNINGS)

The Golden Tigers opened the second game with a ten-run first inning on their way to 19 hits, as well as plating a trio of runs in the third and fourth inning. The Broncos, who were held to two hits, got a run back in the third when Dakota Baker scored on a wild pitch during a Haylee Lefebvre at bat. Lefebvre gave up 12 earned runs (13 total) and 16 hits through 3.0 innings as the starter, recording one strikeout. Molly Greene took over on the mound for the last two frames, getting one strikeout, while allowing one earned run (three total) on three hits.

LEHMAN 10, SUNY DELHI 8 (SIX INNINGS)

The Broncos held a 5-2 lead through the first four-and-a-half innings before Lehman collected five runs in the bottom of the fourth and three more in the fifth. Delhi answered with three in the sixth, but heavy rain during the bottom half of the sixth caused the game to be called. Sierra Keesler hit a two-run homer with one triple as she led the Broncos with a pair of RBIs. Renee Stilwell had one RBI with a single in the second, while Jenna Lutz batted in a run in the third off a single. Delhi's remaining four runs, including its three in the sixth, came on a pair of passed balls, one bases-loaded walk and one bases-loaded hit-by-pitch. Starter Lutz had six strikeouts through 4.1 innings, allowing six earned runs (ten total) on nine hits. Haylee Lefebvre allowed just two hits and one walk in one inning of scoreless relief.
