Men Take Three of Top Four to Run Away with Win at Oneonta

The men's cross country team runs out of the starting line in a pack.

ONEONTA, N.Y. (September 14, 2019) – Another meet, another one-two finish for Abshir Yerow and Seth Bywater Saturday morning as the men's cross country team took on the 8K SUNY Oneonta Airfield Invitational. Along with Aiden Berlinski, the Broncos took three of the top four spots and six of the first 13, led by Yerow's top mark of 26:24.1, as they logged their second win of the season with 24 points.

"This was our first real test of the season and the first time that we turned people loose to race how they saw fit," said head coach Robb Munro. "A lot of guys had great performances and that's always good to see. Many freshmen ran well in their first-ever 8K race and that's also very promising. Now it's back to work."

Coming off of weekly honors from both the NAC and USCAA last week in his career debut, Bywater used his first 8K race to post a 27:01.3 time for second place. Fellow freshman Berlinski finished fourth at 27:13.0, while Devon Benarick placed eighth at 27:59.5. Ted Oster took 11th with a time of 28:18.4, as Aidan Cutting placed 13th at 28:36.4. Matthew Sabolenko wrapped up Delhi's team scoring with a 17th-place finish of 29:05.1.

Also running for the Broncos in the local meet were Bladimir Pena (29:08.5), Derrick Kenan (29:26.2), Aaron Vivlamore (29:30.5), Anthony Cuchel (29:44.4), Jack Hopkins (29:49.1), Frank Martucci (29:53.9), Stanton Baker (30:08.1), Lewis Race (30:22.9), Vincent Matarese (30:55.9), Kevin Malen (33:09.7), and Tyler Kemble (33:18.2).

Head coach Robb Munro's runners have the next two weeks to prep for their next race at SUNY Geneseo's Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 28.
