Robb Munro Named ACAA Men's Coach of the Year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (November 30, 2018) – After coaching his Broncos to both their third straight conference and national titles, head coach Robb Munro was awarded the American Collegiate Athletic Association's (ACAA) Coach of the Year. This marks Munro's latest honor, having been named the USCAA's Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year earlier this month.

While Coach Munro returned most of his runners responsible for the team's success the previous two seasons, it did not slow down the seventh-year head coach from further improving his harriers. Senior Kobie Lane continued his dominance as the team's top runner, earning both USCAA and ACAA weekly honors twice during the season. He was joined by newcomer Abshir Yerow, as the transfer from Onondaga C.C. also picked up USCAA and ACAA weekly accolades.

After an impressive regular season, Munro's team went on to take nine of the top ten spots to win their third straight ACAA Championship with a staggering 17 points, a new team best. Lane topped the field in a time of 27:09.9. Two weeks later, the Broncos carried their momentum to the USCAA National Championships in Virginia Beach, Va., taking the top four individual spots and another two earning second team All-American to win the event with a program-best 19 points, 50 points ahead of the pack. Lane earned his second straight individual national crown at 25:46.24, while Yerow placed second at 26:11.63.

Despite running in just one event during the regular season due to injury, senior runner Nicholas Arnecke came back to finish third at USCAA's, ending his Delhi career earning first-team accolades for the third straight year. Lucas Reilly locked up his second straight first-team honor, placing fourth. Ted Oster earned second-team honors with a ninth-place finish, improving from his number-30 placement the year prior. Kevin Malen took 11th place, jumping up two spots from his 2017 showing.
