Yerow Honored USCAA Athlete of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. (September 19, 2018) – The newcomer to the SUNY Delhi men's cross country team was not finished with his weekly awards by Tuesday afternoon. At that time, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) declared Abshir Yerow (Syracuse, NY / Nottingham) as its Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Yerow had been named the ACAA Athlete of the Week earlier Tuesday, making him the second straight Broncos men's harrier to sweep the national and conference weekly awards. Senior Kobie Lane earned that distinction last week.

A transfer from Onondaga C.C., Yerow earned the national weekly nod after placing fifth on Saturday to lead the Broncos to a second-place finish at the SUNY Oneonta Airfield Invitational. The second-year runner crossed the line at 19:40.6 in the six-kilometer race, ranking him sixth among Delhi's all-time list on the SUNY Oneonta course.

Yerow and the Broncos have a weekend off in preparation for the Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29.
