Delhi Rolls to 6-3 Win Over Sage

DELHI, N.Y. (April 19, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team picked up their second win of the year on home court Wednesday, using two doubles wins and four singles wins to carry them to a 6-3 win over The Sage Colleges. The win puts the Broncos at 2-5 on the season.

The three tandem of Michael Zerniak and Brody Rettle got Delhi's first win of the day with an 8-6 ledger over Zaheer Ahmad and Mitesh Joshi. Then in tiebreaker fashion, the one pair of Lac Van and Robert Zawadzki defeated Henry Golden and Casey Fitzpatrick 8-7 (8).

Zawadzki earned his second win of the day shutting out golden in one singles, 6-0 and 6-0. Payton Dean swept Christian Rosario at five singles, winning the first set on a tiebreaker 7-6 (2) and taking set two, 6-3. The Broncos' remaining two wins came in three sets. At three singles, Jefferson Iliev clinched the team win after coming back from a 6-2 set-one defeat to win the final two frames over Tyler Schnaible, 7-5 and 6-2. In the sixth spot, Jordan Fragale rebounded from a 6-4 loss in set one to take consecutive sets over Mike Basile, 6-0 and 10-4.

Delhi will embark on a two-match road trip, the first against Lyndon State this Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by a mid-week matinee at Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
