Rettle and Zerniak, Beebe Post Wins in 7-2 Defeat to Hartwick

DELHI, N.Y. (April 4, 2018) – SUNY Delhi men's tennis celebrated NCAA Division III Week Wednesday with a home match against local foe Hartwick. The Broncos posted one doubles and one singles victory on the day as they lost by an 7-2 score. The Hawks took two doubles matches by matching 8-1 scores and won three singles contests in straight sets.

The three doubles team of Brody Rettle and Michael Zerniak grabbed Delhi's lone win at number three doubles, posting a thrilling 8-7 (3) tiebreaker ledger over Casey Serdiouk and Tyler Adler. Six singles player Michael Beebe also provided some tiebreaker heroics, taking a 6-3 first-set win over Casey Serdiouk, then rebounding from a 6-4 defeat in set two to take the third frame, 10-7.

Robert Zawadzki played a magnificent first set versus John Talbert at one singles, taking it to a tiebreaker, but coming up short 7-6 (6). He fell in the second set, 6-3. Marcos Andrino went three sets at three singles against Nick Adamou, responding from a 6-4 defeat in set one to win the second set, 7-5. Andrino, unfortunately, fell by a 10-3 score in the tiebreaker set.

The men now have an 11-day gap to coincide with spring break before embarking on a five-match road trip. This trek will start with Thomas (Maine) on Sunday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m.
