Men's Tennis Earns First Win with 8-1 Rout of Vaughn

DELHI, N.Y. (April 1, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team earned their first win of the year on Saturday with an 8-1 win over Vaughn. The Broncos improved to 1-3 on the season, and have home matches set this week against Keystone on Monday and Hartwick on Wednesday. Both contests begin at 4:00 p.m.

Delhi cruised to a doubles sweep on the Warriors to begin the match. The one team of Joseph O'Halloran and Jefferson Iliev won by an 8-2 score, Payton Dean and Marcos Andrino won, 8-1, in the second spot and Brody Rettle and Michael Zerniak took the number-three match, 8-3. The Broncos won four singles matches in straight sets, with number-one player Robert Zawadzki beating Tobi Oladeji, 6-1 and 7-5. Andrino down O'Brian Williams at number four, 6-0 and 6-1, while Dean defeated Sebastian Valencia at five by matching 6-3 scores. In his first match of the year, Michael Beebe earned a win at six singles with matching 6-1 scores over Andrew Yambo. Delhi's remaining victory came on a forfeit at two singles in favor of Lac Van.
