DELHI, N.Y. (October 1, 2019) – A 1-0 halftime deficit led to three more Nazareth goals to start the second half Tuesday as the SUNY Delhi men's soccer team dropped its third straight contest, 4-1, to the Golden Flyers. John Cabrera accounted for the Broncos' lone score as the men moved to 4-6 on the season.

Head coach Brian Mitko utilized a slightly different starting lineup, including marking the season premiere of sophomore goalkeeper Noah Blake in goal. While the Golden Flyers held a 14-2 first-half lead in shots, including 8-2 in shots on goal, Delhi stood firm to prevent any easy lead. The first half was nearly completed without a score until a Nazareth corner kick deflected above the 18-yard box, where Adoniadis Savidis booted the ball to the left side at 43:42 to give Naz the one-goal lead at the half.

The Golden Flyers took advantage to start the second half, pulling away with a trio of scores. It began at 53:29 when an Andrew Gengler header hit the crossbar, only for Sam Smyth to get the rebound to tap into the open net. Smyth followed by feeding Zein Mohamed down the left side, who sailed the ball over Blake to take a 3-0 lead at 56:13. Naz's last goal came off Gengler stealing a pass from a Delhi defender and scoring the breakaway goal at 69:44. Delhi managed to get the last goal after Brody Rettle crossed a ball from the left side near the goal line, which bounced off Naz keeper Brian Wilkin for Cabrera to cash in at 83:28.

Blake finished with ten saves on the day. All told, Naz held a 23-12 lead in shots, featuring a 14-7 advantage in shots on goal. Rettle expanded his team-leading scoring numbers to 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Cabrera's goal marked his second of the season.

The men continue their NAC season this Saturday on the road at Maine Farmington at 2:30 p.m. The Broncos are 2-1 in conference games.
