Andrino, Rettle Combine for Delhi's Third Sweep of ACAA Weekly Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (October 23, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team swept the ACAA weekly awards for the third time this season after two impressive wins over Cazenovia and Nazareth. Marcos Andrino (Yorktown Heights, NY / Lakeland) was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Brody Rettle (Staten Island, NY / Susan E. Wagner) was named Offensive Player of the Week.

The sophomore forward Rettle and senior goalie Andrino both earned their second weekly honors after their performances in Delhi's 2-1 win at Cazenovia on Wednesday and their 3-1 triumph at Nazareth Sunday. The Broncos extended their win streak to seven matches and are now 10-2 on the year.

Rettle gave the Broncos a 2-0 second-half lead against the Wildcats on Wednesday, which served as the deciding score in the victory. The sophomore then totaled a pair of assists versus the Golden Flyers, setting up team-leading scorer Alhasane Sako for the game's first score at the 50-minute mark, then feeding Juan Velez for the game-clinching goal at minute 84.

Andrino earned the win in both contests, including stepping in for an injured Noah Blake early in Wednesday's game against Caz. He accounted for seven saves and allowed just two goals over the two matches. The senior's week was highlighted even more so when he logged a penalty-kick save early in Sunday's match to keep the game scoreless.

Andrino, Rettle and the Broncos will host College of New Rochelle on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 3:00 p.m. for their last home game of the season. Wednesday also marks the team's senior day, where the Broncos are set to honor Andrino, Matthew Cassidy, Brody Rettle, Jostin Sarmiento, Timothy Sogbodjor, Corey O'Toole and Lac Van.

Following Wednesday, head coach Brian Mitko's team has one more regular season match at Fisher on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 4:30 p.m. The team then will embark for the following weekend's ACAA Tournament at Finlandia University (Mich.), where the Broncos will face Pine Manor in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m.
