Correia, Rettle Earn Men's Soccer's Second Straight ACAA Weekly Sweep

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (October 2, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's soccer team swept the ACAA weekly awards for the second straight week. Brody Rettle (Staten Island, NY / Susan E. Wagner) was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week, while Stefan Correia (New Rochelle, NY / Truman) earned Defensive Player of the Week.

The sophomore forward Rettle and senior defender Correia were rewarded for their performances in Delhi's two wins last week, a 3-0 road win at Elmira on Wednesday and a 3-1 home victory against Green Mountain on Saturday. The wins guided head coach Brian Mitko's team to their first three-game winning streak of the season to improve to 6-2.

Rettle scored the go-ahead goals in both of Delhi's victories. He netted the first goal against Elmira just nine-and-a-half minutes into the contest. Correia and the defense preserved Delhi's one-goal lead for most of the match before the Broncos added a pair of second-half scores to clinch the victory. In total, the defense allowed just ten shots with eight on goal. Then on Saturday, after the Broncos tied the game near the end of the first half against Green Mountain, Rettle put Delhi ahead for good in the 47th minute. Correia and company shut out the Eagles in the second half, giving up just 13 shots with seven on goal for the match.

Correia, Rettle and the Broncos get set for their next contest, a road meeting at Albany College of Pharmacy, on Thursday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m.
