Delhi Dealt Three Second-Half Scores in Loss to Canton

CANTON, N.Y. (September 17, 2017) – It was a tale of two halves on Sunday when SUNY Delhi visited SUNY Canton. A scoreless tie at halftime was drastically altered by three unanswered SUNY Canton goals in the second half as the Broncos were shutout, 3-0, by the Roos.

Broncos goalkeeper Marcos Andrino had six saves on the day, tallying three in each half. After 57 minutes of scoreless pander, Canton broke its silence with three goals, including two in under one minute. Kyle Smith put the Roos ahead with a 57th-minute goal, while Josh Geller chimed in 52 seconds later to give the home team a 2-0 lead. Smith came around again to tally the final score in the 65th minute.

Delhi was outshot, 17-7, but kept Canton scoreless in the opening half, despite the Roos holding an 8-2 first-half lead in shots. The Broncos were called for 16 fouls, compared to Canton's six. Yellow cards were given to Delhi's Brody Rettle in the 51st minute and Canton's Maurizio Paniconi in the 76th minute.
