ENDWELL, N.Y. (April 3, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team made a far trip Wednesday evening to host Houghton in a non-conference 15-9 victory, playing at Maine-Endwell High School outside of Binghamton. The Broncos scored the first two goals of the game and never looked back to win their eighth game in their last nine contests to stand at 8-3.

NAC-leading scorer and reigning NAC Player of the Week John Rohan turned in another phenomenal scoring day with seven goals and one assist, marking his third straight game scoring at least six goals. Malik Talbert finished with four goals. Rohan now leads the conference with 53 points and 45 goals, while Talbert is second with 40 points and 30 goals. Freshman Brandon McGrath had two assists, jumping his league-best assists total to 18.

King White got Delhi on the board to start the contest with 9:36 remaining in the first. Rohan followed less than one minute later with his first score of the day to put the Broncos ahead, 2-0. Houghton got one back to trim Delhi's lead to one, which would stand as the closest the Highlanders would come for the entire contest. Brian Conti closed out the first-quarter scoring to put the Broncos back up by two goals to end the first. Rohan went on to score all of Delhi's three second-quarter goals, opening the period with a score to put the team ahead, 4-1. Highlander Nathan Anderson scored both the visitors' second-quarter goals, which were both answered by goals from Rohan as Delhi took a 6-3 lead at intermission.

Rohan carried on in the third with goal number five with a man down to open the half, followed by Talbert getting on the board several minute later to extend the Broncos' lead to 8-3 with 8:34 to go in the third quarter. Houghton was next to score, which was quickly answered by Delhi faceoff man Nick Dower scooping up the ball on the ensuing faceoff and taking it to the back of the net for a 9-4 Broncos advantage. After two more Highlanders goals brought Delhi's lead down to three, Rohan again stepped up with a goal with just five seconds before the end of the third period to begin the fourth up, 10-6. Dower and Talbert each tallied a goal to open the fourth to widen Delhi's lead to its largest of the game at 12-6. After another Highlanders goal, Talbert responded with a man-down goal to put the Broncos back up by six at 14-8. Houghton would answer with two consecutive goals to get to within four at 13-9 with 3:05 to play, only for Talbert and Rohan to close out the scoring with a score apiece.

The Broncos outshot the Highlanders, 47-34, including 28-14 in shots on goal. Freshman goalie Travis Anderson logged five saves, backed by a Broncos front that forced the Highlanders into 21 turnovers, while holding their guests to convert on 16-of-24 clear attempts; Delhi cleared on 17-of-20 chances. Anderson leads the NAC with a 58.2 save percentage and 7.91 goals allowed average. Dower won 19 faceoffs, as Nolan Danielewski won one. The Broncos also held the Highlanders scoreless on five-extra man opportunities.

Head coach Sam Miller's men return to NAC action on Saturday with a road meeting at Northern Vermont Johnson, set for 4:00 p.m. at Norwich University.
