Broncos Shut Out Thomas for Third NAC Win

DELHI, N.Y. (March 31, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team went 3-for-3 in NAC play in overwhelming fashion Saturday, shutting out Thomas by way of a 23-0 score. Led by a lockdown defense, six goals from John Rohan and five goals and two assists by Travis Biggs, head coach Sam Miller's team cruised to their seventh win in their last eight games for a 7-3 record and 3-0 in league play. They closed out the month of March with a 7-2 ledger.

Delhi spelled out its win with five goals in the first quarter, seven in the second, five in the third and sixth in the fourth. The Broncos forced the Terriers into 22 turnovers, while allowing their guests into clearing just 11-of-35 attempts. Delhi cleared on 12-of-14 attempts, and won 21 faceoffs, with Nick Dower accounting for 17 of those wins and Nolan Danielewski claiming the remaining four. The Broncos outshot the Terriers, 83-6, including 45-4 in shots on goal. Freshman goalie Travis Anderson earned his keep with four saves to get the shutout, which included a few point-blank saves from just outside the crease. Delhi also scored on 2-of-2 extra-man chances.

Brandon McGrath had three goals and two assists, while Parker Adkins totaled a pair of goals. Malik Talbert and Ross Cange each had one goal and two assists, with Dower and King White adding one goal and one assist. Brandon Katz, Jacob Nygard and Ryan Cumisky all had one goal on the afternoon, while Joshua Krase and Logan Bauer each tallied one assist.

Rohan jumped his NAC-leading scoring totals to 45 points and 38 goals. Talbert ranks second in the league in both categories with 36 points and 26 goals. Anderson brought his NAC-best goals against average down to a season-best 7.80, and continues to lead with 116 total saves and ranks second with a 59.8 save percentage. McGrath leads the NAC with 16 assists. Biggs ranks fifth in the conference with 30 points and 19 goals, and fourth with 11 assists.

Coach Miller's squad is set for two games this week, playing Houghton on Wednesday, April 3 at 5:00 p.m. at Maine-Endwell High School in Endwell, NY, then NAC-foe Northern Vermont Johnson on Saturday, April 6 at 4:00 p.m. at Norwich University.
