Anderson Nabs Third Straight NAC Weekly Honor

DELHI, N.Y. (March 19, 2019) – For the third straight week, freshman goalie Travis Anderson (Putnam Valley, NY / Putnam Valley) is taking home a NAC weekly honor. Anderson received the conference's Defensive Player of the Week award, his second straight, after his strong performances in net helped the Broncos to wins over Cazenovia and NAC-foe Maine Maritime. Delhi has won its last four games to stand at 4-2 and 1-0 in NAC play.

Anderson and the defense have now gone three straight games shutting out an opponent for an entire quarter. At Cazenovia on Wednesday, the Broncos overcame a 4-1 first-quarter deficit, scoring 11 of the next 12 goals as they took a 13-8 victory. Anderson tallied 16 saves on 24 shots faced, with him and the Delhi defense holding the Wildcats scoreless during the entire third period. In their NAC opener with Maine Maritime Saturday, Anderson tied a season best with five goals allowed in the team's 12-5 victory. He gathered ten saves on 15 shots faced, as well as him and the defense keeping their guests off the scoreboard throughout the second quarter.

The freshman from Putnam Valley, NY leads the NAC with an 8.33 goals allowed average, and second with a 60.9 save percentage. Prior to his consecutive defensive weekly awards, Anderson was named the NAC's Rookie of the Week for week one.

Anderson and the Broncos look to continue their hot streak against local-foe SUNY Cobleskill on Tuesday Mar. 19 at SUNY Oneonta. The Broncos will then head back out on the road for their second NAC contest at Husson on Saturday, followed by SUNY Poly on Wednesday, Mar. 27.
