CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (March 13, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team erased a 4-1 first-quarter deficit at Cazenovia Wednesday, holding the Wildcats to just four more goals, including a third-quarter shutout, to pull ahead with a 13-8 victory. The Broncos spoiled Caz's season opener to gather their third straight win and improve to 3-2.

While freshman King White gave Delhi the early 1-0 lead just one minute in, the Broncos found themselves three goals deep near the end of the quarter. The Wildcats reeled off the next four scores to go up by a 4-1 score with two minutes left. But Delhi quickly got back in the game on account of Travis Biggs and Brian Conti goals to close out the period down just 4-3. The Broncos resumed work in the second quarter, holding Caz to just one goal, while firing in three scores to take a 6-5 lead at intermission. Biggs scored Delhi's first on a man-up chance, then team-leading scorer John Rohan buried the next two.

Just like in their Sunday victory over Purchase, Delhi held its opponents scoreless in the third quarter and tacked on three scores. Biggs once again found the back of the net for his third goal of the afternoon, followed by Malik Talbert supplying the ensuing two scores as the Broncos went up, 9-5, entering the fourth. The men then put some distance with three more goals to start the final period, courtesy of Talbert and two more from Rohan to give Delhi its largest lead at 12-5 with six minutes remaining. Three goals from Caz and one more from Talbert accounted for the remaining scoring.

Talbert finished with five points on four goals and one assist, boosting his NAC-best scoring total to 20 points on 14 goals and six assists. Rohan's four-goal day took his league-high goal total to 16, while ranking second with 19 points. Biggs completed his second hat trick of his young career, as the freshman now ranks third in the NAC with nine goals. Fellow newcomer Travis Anderson logged 16 saves on 24 shots faced, as he continues to lead the NAC with a 9.00 goals allowed average and second in the conference with a 60.2 save percentage.

Delhi overwhelmed Caz on shots, 62-37, including 39-24 in shots on goal, as they went up against a 26-save performance from Wildcats keeper Matt Deyette. The Broncos cashed in on 3-of-7 man-up opportunities, while holding the Wildcats to no scores on their two man-up chances. Delhi also was successful on 18-of-22 clears, and won 14 face offs to Caz's ten. Nick Dower won 13 of them, while Steve Lezamiz came through for the remainder.

With three consecutive road wins in their pocket, head coach Sam Miller's team brings their streak back home as they open their NAC season Saturday, hosting Maine Maritime at 1:00 p.m. at SUNY Oneonta.
