AURORA, N.Y. (March 9, 2019) – In their first game of the season within New York State lines, the SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team traveled to Wells Saturday, executing a 15-5 victory for their first win of the year. The Broncos, who opened 2019 last week with two games down in Virginia, began their three-game, five-day road swing on a stellar note, headlined by John Rohan III posting a five-goal, one-assist day and freshman goalie Travis Anderson grabbing ten saves.

Rohan began his six-point day with the first goal of the game with 10:16 to go in the first quarter. The Express evened the contest one minute later on a Padraic Iannello score, but it would be all Delhi from then on. Team-leading scorer Malik Talbert scored the Broncos' next two goals, followed by freshman King White scoring a man-up goal to close out the opening period up, 4-1. Delhi shut out Wells up until the final seconds of the second quarter, with goals from Jacob Nygard, White, and a pair from Rohan giving the team an 8-2 halftime lead.

Delhi carried on with three consecutive scores to begin the third, with two coming from Rohan to finish out his big day and the other from Travis Biggs. Wells would score the next two, but Brandon Katz got one back for the Broncos to close out the third ahead, 12-4. The Express opened the fourth with their last goal of the day, after which Delhi scored the remaining three from Biggs, Brandon McGrath and Joshua Krase.

The Broncos outshot the Express, 47-23, and cashed in on 2-of-4 man-up opportunities to Wells' 2-of-6. Delhi also forced its hosts into 23 turnovers and won 13 of 23 faceoffs, including 12 from Nick Dower and the other by Steve Lezamiz.

Rohan now leads the NAC with eight goals, and second with nine points. Talbert's two-goal, one-assist day puts him at a NAC-best 11 points on seven goals and four assists. Anderson faced a total of 15 shots, and leads the conference with a 10.0 goals against average and third with a 53.8 save percentage through three complete games in net.

Head coach Sam Miller's team continues their road trip Sunday with a matchup at Purchase at 1:00 p.m. They will then finish their travels facing Cazenovia on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
