Talbert, Anderson Rack Up First NAC Awards of Season

WATERVILLE, Me. (March 4, 2019) – In just their first week competing in the NAC, the Broncos scooped up two of the conference's first weekly honors of 2019. In their two-game stretch to start the year, senior Malik Talbert (Valley Stream, NY / Valley Stream Central) was named Player of the Week following an eight-point performance, while freshman goalie Travis Anderson (Putnam Valley, NY / Putnam Valley) received Rookie of the Week after totaling 25 saves.

Delhi began its NCAA Division III era heading down to Virginia for its opening two games. The Broncos played a tight contest with Randolph on Wednesday, coming up just short in a 9-7 contest. Talbert, who finished as the Broncos' leading scorer in 2018 (35 points on 25 goals, ten assists), began his senior campaign netting a game-high four goals. Anderson made his career debut taking the reins in goal, coming up with 11 saves on 20 shots faced. The men continued on by facing Bridgwater Saturday in a 16-5 defeat. Talbert had another four-point day, recording one goal with three assists, while Anderson totaled 14 saves on 30 shots faced.

The Broncos resume their season back in New York State with three straight road games over the course of one week. They will travel to take Purchase on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., followed by a road contest at Wells on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and finally at Cazenovia next Wednesday, Mar. 13 at 4:00 p.m.
