FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (April 10, 2018) – Despite shutting out Farmingdale State in the first quarter and leading 1-0 to start the second period, SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse eventually could not overcome a 53-20 disparity in shots Tuesday as the Rams claimed an 8-5 win.

While Farmingdale State fired 21 shots in the first quarter alone, Delhi goalie Eric Morse blocked away all eight shots faced in the period. And though the Broncos had just four shots in the first quarter, Brendan Scheeler found the back of the net with 11:59 to play in the quarter to take the early lead. The Rams countered in the second with three unanswered goals for a 3-1 advantage at the break. Farmingdale tacked on another goal to start the third to make it 4-1 before the Broncos answered back with three straight of their own to tie it. Malik Talbert recorded his team-leading 18th goal of the year on a man-up chance with 6:57 to play in the quarter, assisted by Jeremy Leary. John Rohan III delivered a score with 4:16 to go in the third off a feed from Ross Cange, followed by Leary netting one from Rohan with 24 ticks left in the quarter.

The Rams' John McMahon, however, found enough time to put the home team ahead before quarter's end with one second remaining. Farmingdale added some distance with three consecutive goals in the fourth, while Rohan's ensuing goal from Leary with 3:28 remaining marked the final score of the game.

Morse finished the day with 12 saves in a full 60 minutes in goal. Rohan (two goals, one assist) and Leary (one goal, two assists) both led the team in scoring with three points. Mitch Spaziani won two faceoffs for the Broncos. Delhi converted on 16-of-22 clear attempts, cashed in on 1-of-3 man-up opportunities, and forced the Rams into 19 turnovers.

Delhi now embarks on a trip to Dean College this weekend for the Hampton Inn Bulldog Classic. The two-day classic starts Saturday, with the Broncos facing off against Alfred State at 4:00 p.m.
