WILMORE, Kent. (March 2, 2018) – Even at one point holding a 7-1 second-half lead, SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse's first victory of the season Friday didn't come easy at Asbury. The Eagles rallied for six straight goals with 7:23 left in the match before Pearse Crowley's game-winning score with 5:32 left gave the Broncos an 8-7 win. Coach Sam Miller's team concluded their southern spring break trip at 1-3, and return home this Wednesday to face Green Mountain at 4:00 p.m. at SUNY Oneonta.

Luke Anderson scored on a power play and Brendan Scheeler followed with a score to give Delhi a 2-0 lead with 6:11 left in the first. After an Asbury score, Anderson netted back-to-back goals, the first with 1:49 left in the first quarter assisted by Malik Talbert and the second with 13:49 in the second, followed by a Talbert score with 4:36 left in the half for a 5-1 Broncos halftime lead. Scheeler opened the second half with a goal with 10:55 remaining in the third and Anderson followed with his fourth goal on the night on a man-up to give Delhi a 7-1 lead with 8:05 remaining in the third.

Asbury began the comeback attempt with consecutive goals from Didier Fardin, the first coming with 3:57 to go in the third and a man-up netter with 13:29 left in the fourth. Bobby Bennett then scored with 11:44 remaining, with Fardin notching his third goal on the evening with 8:48 to play. Graham Ferrell drew Asbury to within one with his second score at 8:18 left, then Jacob Pekola tied the game off an assist from Bennett to make the score 7-7 with 7:23 to play. Crowley thwarted the Eagles' comeback effort with what would be the game-winning goal, as the Delhi defense held Asbury scoreless to preserve the win.
