Men's Lax Runs Into Defending National Champ Reinhardt

Waleska, Ga. (February 26, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse team continued their spring break trip Monday evening, taking on defending NAIA national champion Reinhardt. While the Broncos knew playing the Eagles would be an uphill battle, second-half goals by Luke Anderson and Brian Conti would be all Delhi could muster in a 12-2 road defeat. Coach Sam Miller's team will look to overturn their 0-2 start as their next stop finds them at Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

The Eagles scored the first nine goals of the contest, including five in the first half, before Anderson's second goal of the season broke the Broncos' silence with 3:49 remaining in the third quarter. Reinhardt went on to score the next three goals before Conti notched his first career score with just over one minute to play in the contest. Two of Reinhardt's goals came on power-play opportunities in the third period.

Delhi goalie Eric Morse came through on ten saves, plus one team save, as Reinhardt outshot the Broncos, 35-10, including 23-6 in shots on goals. SUNY Delhi converted 9-of-12 clear attempts, while Reinhardt was a perfect 13-of-13. The Broncos grabbed 18 ground balls to the Eagles' 30, and won five faceoffs as Reinhardt won 12. Delhi held Reinhardt to just 2-for-7 on extra-man chances.
