Men Take Ninth Place at Skidmore

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (April 15, 2019) – The SUNY Delhi men's golf team concluded their spring break travels over the weekend, competing at the Skidmore Dr. Tim Brown Invitational. The Broncos scored a 307 (+23) on day one Saturday, then carded a 315 (+31) on the final day Sunday to place ninth with a 622 total (+52). The two-day tournament took place at the par-71, 6,310-yard Ballston Spa Country Club, with the field featuring 15 teams, including host Skidmore, RPI, St. Thomas Aquinas, Farmingdale and SUNY Cobleskill.

Zach Barrett shot a 77 (+6) both days to lead the Broncos with a 37th-place finish with a 154 (+12). Russell Herbert was right behind him, scoring a 75 Saturday and an 80 Sunday for a 155 (+13) to place 44th. Daniel Christy took 49th, carrying a 77 (+6) on day one and a 79 (+8) day two for a 156 (+14). Jonathan Smolen clubbed a 79 (+8) each day to place 53rd with a 158 (+16). Alex Fisher had a 78 (+7) the first day and an 82 (+10) day two to take 57th with a 160 (+18).

Competing individually were Jason Cyr, who shot an 82 (+11) and 79 (+8) for 62nd place with a 161 (+19), and Brandon Palmer, who tallied a 91 (+20) Saturday, then improved by 12 strokes Sunday with a 79 (+8) to take 79th with a 170 (+28).

The men will be back on the golf course next Tuesday, April 23, when they head to the Elmira Invitational for a one-day competition, starting at 11:00 a.m.
