STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (October 8, 2018) – Monday served as a promising first day for the SUNY Delhi men's golf team at the USCAA National Championships, as the defending national champions shot a 291 three-over-par score to stand in second place out of 20 teams. The Broncos' quest for back-to-back titles was led by Aaron Oliver, who closed out day one with a 71 one-under-par to tie for fifth. Taking place at the par-72, 6,305-yard Penn State Blue Course, Delhi trails only St. Mary of the Woods, who are ahead by eight strokes at 283.

Alex Fisher was one stroke behind Oliver at 72 for a tie for seventh place, while Daniel Christy logged a 73 as he tied for 12th. Russell Herbert and Jonathan Smolen each shot 75's to tie for 24th place to make up the Broncos' scoring. In addition, Brandon Palmer competed individually, and stands in a tie for 28th place after clubbing a 76.

Cleary sits behind SUNY Delhi in third place with a 295, while Mississippi University for Women, SUNY ESF and The Apprentice are tied for fourth with 299 scores. SUNY ESF's Sean Barron leads the individual competition after shooting a 68 four-under-par. Penn State Mont Alto's Austin Green and St. Mary of the Woods' Colton Kuppler and Ben Myers are tied for second after carding 70's.

Head coach Dave Arehart's team continues competition tomorrow, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
